The Weather
The autumn is the season which adults, mostly proprietors of residences, choose to spend in Punta del Este. In the months of April and May the climate is good, temperate during the day and a little cool at night. It is in this time when tourists abandon the place, and only converge at weekends and Holydays. It is then ideal to visit historical places, marinas and for Rural tourism. And as soon as January begins, the city fills again with people.
Cuisine
In Punta del Este there are more than 200 places dedicated to the cuisine. This allows tourists to have a wide range of possibilities when choosing what to eat. In general restaurants offer international food, but the variety is infinite. The best restaurants are far from the center of the peninsula, in the port area they specialize in shellfish. Enjoy the typical Uruguayan cuisine. The city center concentrates fast food restaurants, pubs and tea houses. The prices are varied; in a good restaurant you can have a starter, main course and dessert for 20 dollars. Most of the shops accept Uruguayan and Argentinean pesos, dollars, Brazilian Real and credit cards. The Uruguayan service is very friendly; there are many places where the dinner is accompanied with live entertainment.
